Couple Rough Days and a Surprise

My cheat day was Wednesday.  Didn’t go too badly.  Ate 3/4 of a loaf of French bread.  600 calories.  Made 2 salami sandwiches and one ham sandwich before consuming 3/4 of half gallon of ice cream.  Came to about 3630 calories, which is just a little more than what it takes to maintain my weight.  I was 265.2 that morning and was 267.4 on the next day, Thursday.

I worked away from home on Thursday and dropped a lot of water which I didn’t replace during the day.  When the work day was done, I went shopping and ended up drinking a half gallon of orange juice.  There are 7 servings and each has 460 mg of sodium.  That came to 3220 mg of sodium.  (Minimum daily should be less than 2400) I was starved when I got home and ate about 4 oz. of salami. (I was probably still thirsty and didn’t know it.)  My sodium for the day was 7841 mg.  My calories were 2434.  Low enough to lose weight.  I weighed 269.2 on Friday after weighing in on Wednesday at 265.2.

I found some Quaker Oats High Fiber cereal the day I went shopping for the orange juice and had it for breakfast Friday and Saturday instead of my regular 5 pieces of bacon.  There are 10 grams of fiber in this new cereal. (I wasn’t hungry for hours afterward.)  I went back to my regular routine and weighed 265 this morning, which was less than I weighed on Wednesday.  My advice after this is to stick with whatever you’re doing and don’t give up. It might also mean having a cheat day is a good idea.  I’m curious what I’ll weigh tomorrow (Sunday).  Will report my weight when I post my jogging video.

Did three laps yesterday, jogging the straights and walking the curves.  First goal was two laps.  I’ve done three and will try for four this coming week.  Then I’ll work on increasing my speed on the straights.  Will provide a video of my running along with some running advise on Sunday.

About Duke (Senior Fitness)
Duke is a 69 year old retired teacher, administrator, and coach. He averaged 215 lbs. while in high school where he was MVP in football and went on to play at the University of Washington. He slowly put weight on during periods of stress. Heart arrhythmias stopped him from playing racquetball and jogging and he eventually ballooned up to 300 lbs. He refused to go any higher and reduced his weight to the low 90's, then the 80's, and now the 240's. Despite the weight, he's been skiing the black diamonds runs and hopes to greatly improve his skiing as his weight drops.
